(Alliance News) - Fabrication and engineering company Lamprell PLC on Friday said it has been awarded a contract for the provision of wind turbine generator substructures for the Seagreen offshore wind farm located in North Sea, UK.
Shares in Lamprell were trading 60% higher at 32.00 pence each in London.
The company has received the contract from the Subsea 7 SA, the lead engineering, procurement, construction and installation contractor on the Seagreen offshore wind farm.
To be executed on a lump-sum basis, the scope of work includes the procurement, fabrication and delivery of 30 wind turbine generator substructures, including the jackets, transition pieces and suction caissons, Lamprell said, adding the contract value is in excess of USD150 million.
The Seagreen offshore wind farm is a 1,075 megawatt project is being developed and operated by Seagreen Wind Energy Ltd, a unit of SSE PLC. Once constructed, the wind farm will be the largest in Scotland and Phase One is forecast to provide low carbon energy for around one million homes.
