LONDON (Alliance News) - Oil and gas rig builder Lamprell PLC on Friday said it has constructed and delivered the Ensco 141 jackup drilling rig to its customer, Ensco PLC, more than two years after the initial contract was signed.
Lamprell received the initial order for the rig in April 2014 and the Ensco 141 rig was the second rig with the LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) Class design that Lamprell adopted across its suite of under-construction rigs.
The rig will be warm-stacked alongside its sister rig at Lamprell's stacking facility in Hamriyah, United Arab Emirates. Warm stacked status means that a rig is idle but operational while a ready stacked rig typically retains most of its crew and can deploy quickly if an operator requires its services.
"The group currently has a further four new build jackup rigs under construction at its Hamriyah facility, which are progressing as planned and will be delivered over the coming six months," said Lamprell in a statement.
"I am pleased to be marking the completion and delivery of this rig to Ensco, one of our key clients. Our combined project team has collaborated effectively and has performed well to deliver this project while at the same time maintaining an exceptional safety record. Lamprell has demonstrated its capability to fabricate high quality, complex products for use by leading operators in the global energy industry," said Christopher McDonald, chief executive of Lamprell.
