(Alliance News) - Kropz PLC said on Thursday that the appeal hearing against the integrated water use licence granted to the Elandsfontein project in South Africa has resumed.
In June, the African phosphate producer said that a group of local residents opposed to the project had made an internal administrative appeal against the granting of the licence.
The hearing initially commenced in October but was postponed to December. On December 18, the tribunal requested a continuation until February 6.
Speaking Thursday, Kropz said: "We would like to advise the market that, in order to allow the tribunal the appropriate opportunity to fully review the matter, it will not be providing further comment on the official proceedings until a decision has been made. Three days have been scheduled for the hearing. The timing of the decision is currently unknown."
The company also noted that, pending the tribunal decision, there is "no legal impediment to the continuation of the water use activities" authorised by the licence.
The stock was untraded on Thursday in London, last quoted at 7.50 pence each.
