LONDON (Alliance News) - Radiation detection company Kromek Group PLC on Thursday said it has received notice from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, in the US that it intends to award the company a sole source contract.
Kromek said DARPA, an agency within the US Department of Defense, has informed the company it intends to award Kromek a contract to supply spectroscopic personal radiation detectors.
The award is part of DARPA's ongoing SIGMA programme to develop an advanced personal detection system for gamma and neutron radiation.
Kromek said the notice is not a contractual commitment and so does not have any impact on its revenue. DARPA will now review whether it will launch a competitive tender for the contract or make a direct award to Kromek.
