LONDON (Alliance News) - Kromek Group PLC said Monday that it had secured a number of orders for its bottle scanning technology from UK and European airports ahead of the arrival of new EU mandates.
Kromek is a supplier of radiation detection technologies and its scanner screens passengers' liquid containers for explosives. The company received orders from nine UK Airports, as well as new orders from Airports in Portugal, Cyprus and Belgium.
It didn't give any financial details.
The orders come as new EU mandates come into force from January 2014. The first phase of the mandate requires all EU airports to provide security screening equipment to allow the passage of liquids through airports for passengers, ultimately leading to restrictions on liquids, aerosols and gels being relaxed.
Kromek also announced that it had received certification from the European Civil Aviation Conference for an improved version of the Bottle Scanner technology.
Shares in Kromek were trading down 0.10 pence at 71.90 pence Monday morning.
