Kore Potash appoints mining veteran Bour as chief financial officer

9th Jun 2021 11:56

(Alliance News) - Kore Potash PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed Jean-Michel Bour as chief financial officer, replacing Andrey Maruta who will step down with effect on Thursday.

Bour will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Brad Sampson, and will not be joining the potash development company's board.

Bour was recently part of Anglo-Australian miner Rio Tinto PLC, as a consultant for designing and rolling-out a risk management improvement project for its treasury, from 2019 to 2020.

Prior to that, he was part of BHP Group PLC for 20 years from 1999 to 2019, his most recent role being head of Risk for Global Functions.

"The company is in a strong position to realise its potential in developing the world class Sintoukola Potash basin and Jean-Michel's experience in the sector will prove of great benefit to Kore as we move through the next stages of growth towards financing and production," Sampson said.

Shares in Kore Potash were up 2.7% at 0.90 pence on Wednesday in London, while its Johannesburg shares were 5.0% higher at ZAR0.21.
