Kodal Reports Progress On Bougouni Mining Licence Application

24th Feb 2020 11:40

(Alliance News) - Kodal Minerals PLC on Monday said its mining licence application for its Bougouni lithium project in southern Mali is "proceeding quickly" following government endorsement.

The mineral exploration company said it held a technical meeting with government agency Direction Nationale de la Geologie et des Mines to review all technical aspects of the project and proposed development, as well as to respond to questions regarding the proposed operation.

Kodal said the meeting resulted in the endorsement of the project. It added that with environmental approval already granted, the next step will be to attend the ministerial commission meeting convened by the Ministry of Mines.

"Our mining licence application is proceeding quickly, and we are pleased with how the DNGM technical review meeting progressed. We have previously presented the geology, resources and proposed mining development to the DNGM and has hosted technical visits to our Bougouni site on previous occasions. This continues our practice of working closely with the Malian authorities to ensure progress of our project," said Kodal Chief Executive Bernard Aylward.

Kodal shares were trading 9.5% higher at 0.06 pence each on Monday morning in London.
