Kier Group Promotes Mursell To CEO Role As Sheffield Stands Down

18th Feb 2014 07:39

LONDON (Alliance News) - Construction and support services company Kier Group PLC Tuesday said it will promote Finance Director Haydn Mursell as its next chief executive, after current CEO Paul Sheffield said he intends to step down and leave the company July 1.

In a statement, the company said it will start looking for a new finance director, as it also said that trading remains in line with its expectations. It will put out its interim results February 27.

"I'm very proud of what we have accomplished, but feel it is now the right time to transition the leadership of the group," Sheffield said in the statement.

"Haydn has done an excellent job as Finance Director since joining the Group in 2010 and has demonstrated that he is the right person to take over from Paul," Chairman Phil White said.

Sheffield joined Kier in 1983 as a graduate engineer, working his way up the company until he was appointed CEO in April 2010.
