LONDON (Alliance News) - Kibo Mining PLC on Thursday said it has completed an integrated water availability study for its Mbeya coal to power project in Tanzania, which showed ground water would be available in "sufficient and sustainable quantities" throughout the life of plant to adequately supply the power station with water.
The miner, focused on a variety of commodities in Tanzania, said the water availability study was undertaken to determine sustainable groundwater yields and pit inflows through aquifer testing and numerical flow modelling, and was performed by Shangoni Management Services Pty Ltd.
The study concluded that ground water would be available in "sufficient and sustainable quantities" throughout the life of plant to adequately supply the power station with water in accordance with the power plant design specifications.
"We are delighted with the outcome of the Water Availability Study and with yet another work stream completed we are getting ever closer to concluding work on the Mbeye coal to power feasibility studies. This study also formed a very important part of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment which is now also nearing completion as scheduled," said Chief Executive Louis Coetzee.
Shares in Kibo were up 2.1% at 4.59 pence on Thursday.
