LONDON (Alliance News) - Africa-focused energy company Kibo Energy PLC said on Friday it has submitted its formal tender qualification document to the Tanzania Electricity Supply Co for its Mbeya coal-to-power project.
This is in line with the Tanzanian government's new initiative for the the development of independent power projects.
Kibo Chief Executive Louis Coetzee said: "We have been able to submit a tender qualification document of exceptionally high standard and substance in a very short space of time, submitting our tender qualification document 24 hours ahead of the submission deadline; we believe that this will stand us in good stead. We are now waiting for a definitive date for completion of Phase 1 from TANESCO but expect this to be completed before end of 2018."
Kibo's subsidiary, Mbeya Power Ltd, was invited to tender for power generation of up to 600 mega watts of coal power following the issue of a request for qualification as the first of a two-stage competitive bidding process last month.
