Keywords Studios Acquires Yokozuna Data For USD1.5 Million

23rd Jul 2018 11:18

LONDON (Alliance News) - Video games-focused technical services provider Keywords Studios PLC said on Monday it has acquired machine learning firm Yokozuna Data from Japanese video game developer Silicon Studio Corp for USD1.5 million.

Yokozuna Data in particular develops self-learning, predictive analytic models using artificial intelligence and machine learning to predict a player's behaviour and how they adapt to changes made in the game itself.

By joining Keywords, Yokozuna is expected to utilise the group's global reach and network of client relationships. In return, Silicon Studio will work with Keywords to promote Yokozuna's technology to Japanese developers and publishers, as well as having a non-exclusive right to resell the solution into non-games markets.

"This acquisition brings industry leading technology and capabilities to Keywords that we believe we can support, enhance and roll out to our clients thanks to the engineering, player research and video game specific data science skills we have within the business. While YD is pre-revenue, it is a rare asset and we expect the first clients to start implementing the software during 2018," said Chief Executive Officer Andrew Day.
