Kellan Group Turns To Profit As Restructuring Actions Lower Costs

4th Sep 2015 06:46

LONDON (Alliance News) - Recruitment company The Kellan Group PLC on Friday said it turned to profit in the first half of 2015 as its total revenue increased and the restructuring it undertook in 2014 delivered cost benefits.

Kellan said its pretax profit for the six months to the end of June was GBP187,000, swung from the GBP74,000 loss it made a year earlier. Total revenue for the group was up to GBP11.5 million from GBP10.7 million, while its net fee income fell to GBP3.7 million from GBP3.9 million a year earlier.

But the fall in net fee income was more than offset by a decline in administrative expenses for the company in the half, while its cost of sales tracked the total revenue rise. Administrative costs were down after the restructuring the company carried out in its RK business in 2014. The RK arm focuses on the small business market, and it saw robust permanent and contract recruitment growth in the half.

The Berkeley Scott unit performed well in the half, maintaining a robust presence in the hospitality and leisure recruitment markets, while temporary recruitment grew across all locations.

The company is not paying an interim dividend.
