LONDON (Alliance News) - Karelian Diamond Resources PLC Thursday said it has completed till sampling in three target regions in Finland, including at one proven diamond site.
The results from the till sampling programme at the Kuhmo, Kuusamo and Kuopi-Kavvi sites are awaiting laboratory analysis.
The targets sampled included the Riihivaara diamond target in the Kuhmo region, where the company has previously identified positive G9 and G10 diamond indicator minerals.
Karelian's diamond exploration programme in Seitaperä, in the Kuhmo area, has already delineated the largest known diamondiferous kimberlite in Finland, at 6.9 hectares, and has been licensed by the company, it said.
Other sampling in the Kuhmo region included sampling at Havukkasuo, which lies to the immediate north of Seitaperä, and in the Kuusamo and Kuopio - Kaavi regions.
The sampling programme was carried out by the Finnish Geological Survey, on behalf of Karelian.
I am delighted that further progress has been madeat several sites, especially at the Riihivaara ... We have also initiated work on our newly granted diamond exploration claim reservations in the Kuusamo and Kuopio - Kaaviregions," said Chairman Richard Conroy.
Karelian shares were up 4.9% to 1.31 pence per share Thursday morning.
