Judges Scientific Says Little Virus Impact At Current Scale Of Spread

24th Feb 2020 11:47

(Alliance News) - Industrial equipment supplier Judges Scientific PLC on Monday said it is "monitoring" the spread of coronavirus and added that the contagion will likely not hurt its trading if it lasts less than three months.

Judges Scientific added travel restrictions will likely only defer, and not reduce, revenue in 2020. In 2019, the company secured GBP9.5 million in revenue in mainland China and Hong Kong.

The company added: "With the current scale of the outbreak, and provided it does not last more than three months and remains largely contained within China, it is not expected that there will be a significant impact to the group's 2020 trading.

"The group operates with an average three-month order book, so in the near term the current travel restrictions are expected to only have a temporary impact."

Looking at its supply chains, Judges Scientific added that only one subsidiary has a "significant" exposure to China.

"The board is monitoring developments closely and at this stage of the outbreak, currently considers that supply chain disruptions will be manageable," Judges Scientific added.

Shares in the company were 6.8% lower at 5,249.00 pence each in London on Monday morning.
