LONDON (Alliance News) - Regional newspaper publisher Johnston Press PLC on Wednesday said it has made further progress with its push to cut costs, closing titles and integrating other into existing publications.
The company said it has closed eight small free print titles in the Midlands and has integrated three small free print titles in the North West and South into existing paid titles.
The group has also renegotiated some key contracts, including the outsourcing of its in-house advertising creative team and its advertising production and software development agreement.
The changes are part of the company's existing cost-cutting programme and will deliver some benefits in the final quarter of 2015, with the main benefits to flow through in 2016.
Johnston Press has also launched a new version of Scotsman.com, the website for Scottish newspaper The Scotsman, as part of its push to improve its digital offering.
Shares in Johnston Press were up 1.7% to 76.00 pence on Wednesday morning.
