Johnson Matthey Wins Licensor Agreement For Ningxia Methanol Plant

4th Aug 2020 17:16

(Alliance News) - Johnson Matthey PLC on Tuesday announced it has won its third methanol design license with Chinese-based Ningxia Baofeng Energy.

The London-based chemicals company said this will be its eighth operating licence in China at a plant with a capacity more than 5,500 metric tons per day.

Johnson Matthey said the agreement is for Ningxia's "third methanol synthesis plant at their coal to olefins complex" in Ningxia province. The company reported that the agreement covers itself as licensor and supplier of engineering support, technical review and the supply of catalyst and equipment.

On completion, Johnson Matthey explained, it will be the world's largest methanol plant with an expected capacity of 7,200 metric tons per day.

"We are very proud of our ongoing collaboration with Ningxia Baofeng Energy. It is testament to their confidence in Johnson Matthey's engineering expertise and ability to successfully design and help deliver their large-scale methanol plants," said Managing Director John Gordon.

Shares in the company closed up less than 0.1% at 2,303.00 pence each in London on Monday.
