John Wood Wins Deepwater Well Accident Training Contract In US

24th Sep 2015 09:08

LONDON (Alliance News) - Oil services company John Wood Group PLC on Thursday said it has won a contract with Marine Well Containment Co to provide an operator training simulation covering containment in the event of a deepwater well-control accident in the Gulf of Mexico, like BP PLC's Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010.

Wood Group Kenny, John Wood's design, project management and operational support services unit, will handle the contract and will train Marine Well staff at its base near Corpus Christi in Texas.

No financial details were disclosed on the contract.

"Providing the technology to help train those responsible for tackling well control incidents in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico is a very important project. We will utilize our extensive experience in software and simulation to support this safety effort," said Bob MacDonald, the chief executive of Wood Group Kenny.

Shares in John Wood were up 0.2% to 583.00 pence on Thursday.
