WASHINGTON (Alliance News) - Following Donald Trump's resounding victory in the Indiana primary, Ohio Governor John Kasich will reportedly suspend his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination on Wednesday.
Kasich canceled a planned press conference outside Washington, D.C. and will reportedly announce his decision to drop out of the race in a statement at 5 pm ET in Ohio.
The decision by Kasich comes after Senator Ted Cruz, R-Tex., announced he was suspending his campaign for the GOP nomination Tuesday night.
Kasich and Cruz had previously announced an agreement to team up to try to stop Trump, but their efforts well short.
With Kasich and Cruz dropping out, Trump will have a clear path the Republican nomination and a likely faceoff with Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton in the general election.
