JKX Oil Says Ukrainian Police Search Office And Employees' Homes

15th Jun 2016 06:42

LONDON (Alliance News) - JKX Oil & Gas PLC on Wednesday said the Ukrainian police have visited its Poltava Petroleum Co subsidiary in Ukraine and the homes of two senior employees.

The Ukraine-focused oil and gas operator said the police visited the office and the homes without notice and were searching for documents in relation to the investigation of claims of alleged underpaid taxes which have been made by a local prosecutor.

JKX said Poltava is cooperating fully with authorities but, nevertheless, believes it is in full legal compliance with the issues outlined in the police warrant.

"Furthermore the company believes the police action to be in violation of the Emergency Awards that have been granted in favour of JKX and PPC and against the Ukrainian authorities by the Hague Tribunal and is currently considering its next steps," JKX added.

JKX said no disruption to its business has occurred as a result of the searches.
