JD Wetherspoon Invests GBP9 Million In Four New Hotels

23rd Jun 2015 10:19

LONDON (Alliance News) - JD Wetherspoon PLC Tuesday said it is investing more than GBP9 million in the opening of four new hotels in the next 10 weeks, bringing the total number of Wetherspoon hotels to 40, and with more openings planned.

The FTSE 250-listed pub chain said the first hotel will be opened in Camborne on July 7, followed by Tavistock on July 21, Worcester on August 18 and Barrow on September 1.

They will offer a combined 127 bedrooms, taking the total number of bedrooms in its hotels to more than 1,000.

Wetherspoon said that the hotel at Tavistock, which will feature 12 rooms, is part of a new pub development while the other three hotels are opening at existing pubs.

"Our hotels continue to prove popular and we are confident that the four new hotels will be a great asset to their respective pubs and towns in which they are located. Our hotels offer excellent accommodation and facilities and have the great advantage for the traveller of being located alongside our pubs," Chairman Tim Martin said in a statement.

Shares in Wetherspoon were trading up 0.4% at 799.00 pence Tuesday morning.
