(Alliance News) - JD Sports Fashion PLC said on Friday it has been chosen to work with Nike Inc on a new partnership programme.
The Greater Manchester-based company is a multichannel retailer of branded athleisure wear.
It has been selected as the first European retail partner for Nike's "Connected Partnership", which is an integrated rewards programme that gives customers priority access to select Nike member-exclusive products, experiences and offers.
JD Sports and Nike customers will have "unprecedented access" to these rewards if they link their membership accounts through the JD Sports mobile app.
Chief Executive Officer Regis Schultz said the partnership is another opportunity "to inspire the emerging generation of aspirational customers".
Nike's Vice President Carl Grebert added: "Linking up with JD enables us to further extend the best selection of innovative sport performance and lifestyle footwear and apparel from Nike, with the power of digital and physical retail."
This news comes after JD Sports was fined GBP1.5 million by the UK Competition & Markets Authority on Tuesday for fixing the retail prices of several Rangers-branded replica kits from September 2018 until July 2019.
The company said it had "co-operated fully with the CMA" and would not be appealing its penalty.
JD Sports shares were trading 2.1% higher at 101.95 pence each in London on Friday morning.
