JD Sports Fashion CEO Barry Bown Steps Down, Won't Be Replaced

30th May 2014 13:10

LONDON (Alliance News) - JD Sports Fashion PLC Friday said that Chief Executive Officer Barry Bown is stepping down with immediate effect, after 30 years at the company including 14 years as CEO.

The sports clothing and fashion retailer said that it will not be appointing an immediate replacement for Bown.

"With the leadership role of executive chairman having been in place since 2004, and the considerable development and strengthening of the company's senior leadership team over the past decade, there will be no immediate replacement of the role of chief executive officer," the company said in a statement.

The company's executive chairman is Peter Cowgill, who has held the position since March 2004.

JD Sports Fashion shares were trading 0.6% lower at 1,625 pence per share Friday afternoon.
