LONDON (Alliance News) - Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd said Thursday its 2018 first quarter earnings were "little changed from the same period in 2017", with the group performing steadily.
The Asian-focused business group owns interest in several companies including Jardine Pacific that experienced a slower start to the year, with lower profitability across its business.
Jardine Motors continued to trade well in China with improvements in Honk Kong and Macau, but the market was weaker in the UK.
Jardine Lloyd Thompson reported a "good start to the year", and the company said it anticipates continued good organic revenue growth in its global specialty business.
Jardine Strategic Hongkong Land's office portfolio saw positive rent reversions and high occupancy levels. Property development activities in China and Singapore benefited from sound market sentiment.
Jardine Cycle & Carriage reported higher results in the first quarter.
The company said the group's balance sheet at the end of March remained strong with a modest increase since last year.
Jardine Matheson shares were down 1.9% at USD61.17 Thursday afternoon in London.
