James Latham gets green light to build National Distribution Centre

29th Aug 2025 13:00

(Alliance News) - James Latham PLC on Friday said it has obtained planning consent to build its National Distribution Centre, part of plans to bolster its supply chain.

The Hemel Hempstead, England-based distributor of timber, panels and decorative surfaces said its

initial investment will be GBP6 million for the land and then a further GBP39 million over the next two years to construct and fit out the warehouse.

The investment will create a purpose built 300,000 square foot warehouse in East Anglia, offering room to expand the company's product offering. The investment will be funded from existing cash resources.

James Latham said a review of its end supply chain concluded that the investment was necessary as part of the long-term planning for the business in order to future proof the supply chain, reduce reliance on third party service providers and improve routes to market.

The company said the NDC will aid internal distribution within the UK, and improve service and product availability for customers.

Shares in James Latham rose 1.2% to 1,118.10 pence each in London on Friday afternoon.
