(Alliance News) - Ixico PLC said on Tuesday it had won a GBP1 million contract to provide PET and MRI imaging services to an unnamed European biopharmaceutical company specialising in neurodegenerative conditions.
The London-based medical imaging company said its services will be used in a phase 1b/2 trial relating to the use of a novel compound to target amyloid in neurodegenerative diseases. Amyloids are a type of protein which have been linked to the development of various diseases.
This trial will run over five years and will include participants with Alzheimer's disease as well as participants with Down Syndrome, though Alzheimer's will be its number one indication in clinical research.
Ixico explained that its involvement will include consultation in the planning and design of the imaging protocols, the set up and management of imaging centres, the collection and control of imaging data, and the subsequent analysis and reporting of data.
Chief Executive Giulio Cerroni said: "We are delighted to be awarded this contract. Our success in being awarded this study with another new client follows on from our success in securing contracts with nine new clients during the last financial year and is a further contract that utilises both our MRI and PET service portfolios."
Shares in Ixico were up 5.5% at 48.00 pence on Tuesday morning in London.
