ITM Power To Supply Hydrogen Refuelling Stations To Shell Forecourts

10th Sep 2015 11:33

LONDON (Alliance News) - ITM Power PLC Thursday said it has signed a partnership deal with oil giant Royal Dutch Shell PLC to supply hydrogen refuelling stations to three of Shell's retail forecourts in the UK.

The energy storage and clean fuel company said the strategic siting partnership with Shell comes after the award of around GBP2.9 million from UK government schemes to build and upgrade hydrogen refuelling stations in the UK back in March.

ITM Power was awarded GBP2.9 million in funding under a scheme run by the UK government's Office of Low Emission Vehicles, comprising GBP1.9 million for two new London-located Hydrogen Refuelling Stations and a further GBP1 million for upgrading four existing stations.

On Thursday, the company said "at least one, possibly two" of the new refuelling stations to be supplied to Shell will be built under that grant supplied by the Office of Low Emission Vehicles.

"This agreement and the Office of Low Emission Vehicles funding for these new refuelling stations in the South East is an important step in developing hydrogen mobility in the UK. These hydrogen refuelling station deployments will be the first to be fully integrated on fuel forecourts," said the company.

ITM Power shares were up 15% to 28.21 pence per share on Thursday.
