ITM Power sells electrolyser to Linde for Austrian H2Pioneer project

19th Apr 2021 11:16

(Alliance News) - ITM Power PLC on Monday announced it has sold an HGas3SP 2 megawatts electrolyser and supporting equipment to Guildford, England-based chemicals company Linde PLC.

The Sheffield-based hydrogen energy solutions provider said the electrolyser is for the H2Pioneer project in Austria. It did not state how much it sold the electrolyser for.

ITM Power said the electrolyser system will produce green hydrogen, while Linde further purifies it to become "ultra-pure", which can then be used in semiconductor production and manufacturing.

"We are delighted to announce this project, our first in Austria and our first for the semiconductor industry. We will work very closely with our key partner Linde and it is pleasing that this first sale to Austria also takes us into a new industry," said ITM Power Chief Executive Graham Cooley.

Last Monday, ITM Power submitted a planning application for a 20 megawatt electrolyser at the Whitelee wind farm near Glasgow, the UK's largest onshore wind farm.

Shares in ITM Power were up 1.5% at 502.50 pence in London on Monday.
