(Alliance News) - ITM Power on Thursday announced it has sold a 1.4 megawatts electrolyser to Japanese investment company Sumitomo Corp.
The Sheffield, England-based hydrogen energy solutions provider said this will be the first megawatts scale electrolyser system it has deployed in Japan. It added the deployment will be used as an "important" reference plant for further sales in Japan through its partnership with Sumitomo, which began in 2018.
ITM Power said the product will undergo modification to ensure hydrogen supply pressure is below 10 bar in order to comply with Japan's High Pressure Gas Safety Act.
"Our partner Sumitomo continues to bring opportunities to ITM Power for evaluation and we are both working to identify synergies within the wider Sumitomo Corp. This project is an important reference deployment and we look forward to the execution phase of the project and further progress in the important Japanese market," said Chief Executive Graham Cooley.
Shares in ITM Power were up 2.5% at 441.29 pence in London on Thursday.
