ITM Power Opens Seventh Hydrogen Refuelling Station, Plans Another

26th Sep 2018 11:41

LONDON (Alliance News) - Clean fuel and energy storage company ITM Power PLC said Wednesday it has opened a seventh hydrogen refuelling station.

The station, which generates hydrogen on-site using electricity from renewable sources and water, is located in Swindon, on the M4 corridor. Public and private fleets operating fuel cell electric vehicles can refuel at the station.

ITM said the Swindon station forms the first of two UK stations in the pan European H2ME2 project. This project is funded by both the European Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking and the Office of Low Emission Vehicles. A second station near Gatwick Airport, which also will be deployed by ITM, is due to open by the end of the year.

ITM's six other existing hydrogen refuelling stations also are in the UK but are not part of the H2ME2 project.

"We are extremely pleased to have launched our seventh hydrogen refuelling station. ITM Power is grateful for the co-operation of our H2ME2 partners," said ITM Chief Executive Graham Cooley.

"We are again collaborating with local stakeholders to develop a significant fuel cell electric vehicle fleet around the new station," Cooley added.

Shares in ITM were down 0.5% at 27.45 pence on Wednesday.
