(Alliance News) - ITM Power PLC on Friday noted support from the Australian government for BOC Ltd's project to produce hydrogen from renewable energy at the Bulwer Island gas facility.
Shares in ITM Power were up 4.7% at 38.63 pence in afternoon trading.
Hydrogen energy solutions manufacturer ITM Power is to supply the 220 kilowatt electrolyser for use in the project, which will produce up to 2,400 kilogrammes of renewable hydrogen a month.
The project also involves a vehicle refuelling station in Brisbane. As well as supplying BOC's industrial customer, 50 kilogrammes a day of renewable hydrogen will also be produced for the station.
Support came from Australia's Liberal National Government via the Australian Renewable Energy Agency.
ITM Power Chief Executive Graham Cooley said: "Australia really appreciates the benefits that hydrogen can bring to reducing carbon emissions. The country's National Hydrogen Strategy, due to be unveiled at the end of this year shows serious joined-up thinking about the role hydrogen can play in tackling climate change."
