ITM Gets Planning Permission For Beaconsfield Station And Sells Unit

18th Nov 2016 08:30

LONDON (Alliance News) - ITM Power PLC on Friday said it has sold an electrolyser unit to an unnamed major engineering, procurement and construction contractor, and has received planning consent to build a hydrogen refuelling station in Beaconsfield.

The energy storage and clean fuel company said, under the sales contract, it will sell a 1.25 megawatt 50-bar electrolyser unit to the contractor, with the unit to be deployed at an ethylene production plant.

No financial details were given of the deal.

ITM said it has also been granted full planning permission from South Bucks District Council to contract a hydrogen refuelling station (HFS) at the Royal Dutch Shell PLC's Shell Filling Station in Beaconsfield.

The refuelling station will be the first to be integrated into the existing fuel forecourt, with the hydrogen dispenser located under the main fuel forecourt canopy.

ITM said the station will be deployed as part of the Hydrogen Mobility Europe project and Office for Low Emission Vehicles HFS Infrastructure Grants Scheme, and will be co-funded by the The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking partnership and the UK government.

ITM noted it has previously been granted planning permission at three further Shell Filling Stations, located in Gatwick, Cobham and Cambridge, which makes a total of four consented forecourt sites. ITM said the current agreement with Shell is to build at three of these locations.

Commissioning of the refuelling station at the Cobham site is currently underway following delivery of the electrolyser and buffer tank to the site earlier this week. The HRS will open to the public in early 2017, ITM said.

Shares in ITM were down 0.2% at 22.46 pence on Friday morning.
