Irish unemployment rate edges down to 4.0% in January — CSO

(Alliance News) - Ireland's unemployment rate came down in January, data published by the Central Statistics Office showed on Thursday.

The country's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 4.0% in January from 4.5% in December, the latter of which was upwardly revised from a previously reported 4.2%.

The unemployment rate for males came down to 4.0% in January from 4.9% in December, while for females it edged up to 4.1% in January from 4.0% in December.

Youth unemployment, of residents between the ages of 15 and 24, decreased to 11.9% in January from 12.7% in December.
