Irish producer price inflation accelerates to 3.3% on-year in December

22nd Jan 2025 11:17

(Alliance News) - Irish producer price index inflation sped up annually but slowed monthly in December, data published by the Central Statistics Office showed Wednesday.

The producer price index rose 3.3% in December from a year before, the pace of PPI inflation stepping up from 2.1% in November.

This was driven by a 54% on-year surge in wholesale electricity prices. For November, the CSO had reported a 19% on-year increase.

Further, producer prices for food products grew by 4.2% on-year in December, accelerated from 3.0% in November.

On a monthly basis, producer price inflation slowed to 0.6% in December from 1.9% in November.

Notably, wholesale electricity prices fell 6.2% monthly in December, compared to an 18% monthly increase in November.
