Irish High Court To Appoint Inspectors To Independent News & Media

4th Sep 2018 18:33

LONDON (Alliance News) - Independent News & Media PLC said Tuesday the High Court of Ireland will appoint two inspectors to the company on Thursday.

Sean Gillane and Richard Fleck will enquire into and report on issues with the Irish media company's "conduct and affairs". This follows a failed appeal against the inspector appointment by Independent News at the start of July.

The inspectors will look into third parties accessing of the media company's data from 2014 and its 2016 proposed acquisition of Newstalk Radio. These inspectors will also report on whether former Chairman Leslie Buckley disclosed any unlawful information to third parties concerning these events.

"The board will consider the terms of today's decision and the action that the company might take in the interests of the company and its stakeholders," said Independent News & Media.

"The board and the company's management intend to remain focused on the business and ensuring that the group's operations continue, so far as possible, to be conducted as normal," the company added.

Shares in Independent News & Media closed at 0.075 Euros on Tuesday.
