IQGeo Geospatial Platform Selected By Japanese Power Provider

10th Oct 2019 11:35

(Alliance News) - IQGeo Group PLC on Thursday said it has secured a new contract with an undisclosed Japanese power provider.

The location data software firm said eastern Japan was hit by category 4 typhoon Faxai in September, which resulted in power failure for over 640,000 homes.

This unnamed customer worked with IQGeo and its partner NEC Networks & System Integration Corp to implement its geospatial platform, IQGeo's real-time information sharing platform for restoring power quickly and efficiently across the affected area.

The success of this rapid deployment exercise has led to IQGeo winning a contract to roll out the platform to an initial 500 users.

"We understand how important safety is to our customers and we were pleased that our product played an integral role into restoring power to the areas affected by Typhoon Faxai," said IQGeo Chief Executive Richard Petti.

"We're delighted with our latest signing in Japan and we look forward to continue expanding our market share in collaboration with our partner NESIC," added Petti.

IQGeo shares were trading 1.6% higher in London on Thursday at 45.73 pence each.
