IQE Signs Materials Collaboration Deal With Australia's BluGlass

LONDON (Alliance News) - Semiconductor wafer products manufacturer IQE PLC on Tuesday said it has signed a formal collaboration agreement with Australian semiconductor technology firm BluGlass Ltd.

Under the deal, the pair will work on developing technology for high-quality III-N films deposited by Remote Plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition on both Si and cREO on Si templates, IQE said. No financial details on the 15-month agreement were disclosed.

"We are extremely pleased to announce our collaboration with BluGlass. BluGlass' world leading RPCVD technology is highly complementary to IQE's existing technology portfolio, and the collaboration is a key step in overcoming challenges inherent to epi-growth of cutting edge materials," said Rodney Pelzel, IQE's technology division vice-president.

Shares in IQE were up 2.0% to 35.94 pence on Tuesday.
