IQE Secures USD3 Million In Infrared Orders, Joins European Consortium

19th Apr 2016 06:57

LONDON (Alliance News) - Semiconductor wafer products manufacturer IQE PLC on Tuesday said it has won a contract for its Infrared division and said it has joined a new consortium focused on developing analytical micro-sensors in Europe.

IQE said it received a total of USD3.0 million in purchase orders, covering the next 12 months, over the course of March for its indium antimonide and gallium antimonide substrate materials.

The orders came from three long-term customers of IQE's Infrared unit and are for various specifications of the two materials, the company said. The materials are used in infrared detector technology.

Separately, IQE said it has joined the MIRPHAB consortium in Europe, which will work to establish a pilot line to provide analytical micro-sensors in European industry. The aim will be to create a production capability for mid-infrared photonics devices, used in a range of applications where the precise and quick detection of chemicals in gases and liquids is required.
