LONDON (Alliance News) - Invesco Asia Trust PLC Tuesday said its net asset value total return declined in its last quarter by 7.8%, but outperformed a 9.3% decline in its benchmark.

For the three months ended January 31, the UK investment trust said its share price declined by 8.2%. Its net asset value per share cum income at the end of the period was 172.63 pence.

The aim of Invesco Asia Trust is to provide long-term capital growth by investing in a diversified portfolio of Asian and Australasian companies. It holds its biggest investments in South Korea and China.

"Asian economic growth has slowed, but we expect it to remain stable and be sufficiently high in 2014 to offer attractive investment opportunities," the trust said in a statement.
