LONDON (Alliance News) - Construction and support services firm Interserve PLC on Wednesday said its construction joint venture has been awarded a GBP81.0 million contract to expand and upgrade the City Centre Ajman mall in the United Arab Emirates.
Interserve said its joint venture Khansaheb signed the contract with Majid Al Futtaim, a Middle East developer.
Under the contract Khansaheb will more than double the size of the existing mall to 70,000 square metres from 32,00 square metres, expand a number of retail units and build a new car park.
Khansaheb will also undertake new mechanical and electrical installations to serve the expanded mall, and will create new walkways, food courts, offices and a children's entertainment venue. Landscaping work and the reconfiguration of access roads leading to the mall is also covered under the contract.
The project, which has already commenced, will be delivered in a number of phases to enable the existing mall and facilities to remain fully functional and open to the public, Interserve said.
Interserve said the project is expected to be completed by July 2018.
