LONDON (Alliance News) - InternetQ PLC Tuesday said it entered an agreement with Sony Mobile that will see its live music streaming application come pre-installed on Sony Mobile's new Xperia smartphones in Malaysia.
InternetQ, which provides mobile marketing and other digital services to mobile network operators and brands, said it entered a co-marketing partnership with Sony Mobile to provide live music streaming through its Akazoo social media music application.
The agreement will see the Akazoo music streaming service offered through a promotional three month free period to Malaysian users of Sony's new Xperia Z-Ultra and Xperia Z1 smartphones, with the app being pre-installed on the handsets.
InternetQ cited an Ericsson ConsumerLab survey which said smartphone ownership in Malaysia is expected to rise about 17 percent to 80% in Malaysia within the six months from August 2013, though no details were given as to how many of these smart phones will be Sony's new Xperia devices.
"We are delighted to be strengthening our market position in South East Asia with this significant partnership with Sony Mobile. Malaysia is a key growth market for InternetQ and we believe by embedding our Akazoo product into the new Sony handsets we can develop higher levels of customer loyalty and achieve accelerated growth," Panagiotis Dimitropoulos, chief executive, said in a statement.
InternetQ shares were Tuesday quoted at 311 pence, up 4.25 pence, or 1.4%.
