LONDON (Alliance News) - International News and Media PLC Friday said 89 employees will lose their jobs after it decided to close its printing operation in Belfast.
The company said it "remains committed" to its Belfast publishing business which will "continue as normal".
The closure and job reductions will happen "no later" than June 2016 and "reflects the industry wide trend of reducing print volumes as consumption of news via digital channels increases, together with the ending of a key contract with a UK publisher in Belfast," the company said.
Independent News shares closed down 2.7% to 0.180 pence per share on Friday.
