LONDON (Alliance News) - Science in Sport PLC said Thursday its sales for the half-year to the end of June improved 20% year-on-year as it grew its business in international markets.
In the six months to June 30, the company, which produces nutrition products for athletes, increased sales to GBP9.94 million from GBP8.27 million, in the comparative year ago period.
Science in Sport's investment in international markets, particularly in the US, Italy and Australia, drove the revenue increase as half-year sales from those markets reached GBP3.4 million.
June was a "record month" with sales across the business hitting GBP2.2 million.
In the UK, "tough trading conditions" resulted in a 3% decline in revenue, year-on-year. However, the company is confident for the second-half performance after gaining new customers towards the end of the period.
Science in Sport shares were trading down 1.4% at 74.45 pence each on Thursday.
