LONDON (Alliance News) - International Consolidated Airline Group PLC saw its traffic by revenue passenger kilometres rise 7.3% in May compared to the previous year, to 17,345 metres from 16,160 metres.
In May, the company's capacity measured in available seat kilometres rose 8% to 21,924 metres from 20,303 metres.
The company's premium traffic for May rose 9.7%.
IAG said that its underlying market conditions remained unchanged from its first quarter. During May British Airways announced five new routes from Gatwick to Cagliari in Sardinia, Crete and Rhodes in Greed, and Bodrum and Dalaman in Turkey.
These services will start in April 2015. Vueling began operations from its new base in Brussels in May, and the airline has also begun services between Rome and Catania in Italy, it said.
It added that in June Iberia will add additional summer service from Madrid to Chicago, and will increase year-round services to Panama to six weekly services in June and seven in July.
Shares in the airline company were trading up 0.7% at 403.30 pence Wednesday afternoon.
