LONDON (Alliance News) - Intelligent Energy Holdings PLC said on Monday it had saved more than 55 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in the first quarter of its clean energy project with Indian telecom sites.
The power technology company said it has delivered 10 megawatt-hours of clean, efficient power so far in its ten-year deal with GTL Ltd. Under the contract, Intelligent Energy will supply 27,400 telecoms towers in India with hydrogen fuel cells via its Indian subsidiary Essential Energy, phasing out the diesel generators.
The company said, since deployment on a limited number of sites, announced in October, it has doubled the up time of the telecom towers.
"We have done only a small proportion of the work that we intend to do over the next 10 years and the results are really impressive. Extrapolated over a larger scale and they could be game-changing," said Peter Brown, managing director of Intelligent Energy's Distributed Power and Generation division.
Intelligent Energy shares were down 2.1% at 35.24 pence on Monday morning.
