LONDON (Alliance News) - Satellite communications company Inmarsat PLC on Monday said its Global Xpress satellite constellation achieved its global commercial service introduction in December.
A fourth satellite for the constellation is currently completing its construction and undergoing testing in California, Inmarsat said. This is likely to be launched in the second half of 2016 to provide additional network capacity for the Global Xpress service.
The company intends to introduce a number of market-specific, high-speed connectivity services using the Global Xpress satellites over the course of 2016.
Shares in Inmarsat were down 1.2% to 1,123.00 pence on Monday morning.
