14th Apr 2016 13:35

LONDON (Alliance News) - Satellite communications company Inmarsat PLC and defence contractor Cobham PLC's SATCOM Thursday said their partner Beijing Marine Communication & Navigation Company Ltd has won an installation project with Nanjing Tanker Corp of China.

The agreement comes just two weeks after the launch of Inmarsat's Fleet Xpress service, and under the deal, Inmarsat will provide broadband capability to 70 ships.

Cobham and Beijing Marine Communication & Navigation will manage the roll-out of Cobham's SAILOR 100 GX and SAILOR 60 GX antenna systems to NTC.

"Nanjing Tanker Corporation has been pivotal in China's expansion in oil, oil products, specialised chemicals and liquefied petroleum gas transportation," said Chief Sales Officer of Inmarsat Maritime Gerbrand Schalkwijk in a statement.

Shares in Inmarsat were down 0.6% at 1,003.00 pence Thursday afternoon, whilst Cobham was down 0.1% at 205.70 pence.
