Infrastructure India Says Bangalore Commercial Operations Start

10th Apr 2015 08:19

LONDON (Alliance News) - Infrastructure India PLC on Friday said commercial operations have started at the Distribution Logistics Infrastructure Private Ltd terminal facility in Bangalore.

The facility handled its first factory-stuffed containers by rail and road in the past week, it said, with construction of the remaining infrastructure at the facility to take place over the next six months.

Elsewhere, the Indian infrastructure investor said the Nagpur terminal facility is continuing to ramp up operations, and construction has started at the Palwal facility. It said land acquisition has completed at its Chennai facility and work has started on the approach road for the local warehouse zone.

But the group added rail haulage charges in India, levied by the national operator, Indian Railways, have increased substantially for different types of tonnage. India Infrastructure says it and other container train operators will be able to pass on the costs to customers but said those higher costs may result in lower demand for rail transportation and could increase the competitiveness of road transport services.

Shares in the company were untraded Friday morning, having last traded at 13.00 pence.
