Indivior Notes Former CEO's US DoJ Plea In "Personal Capacity"

1st Jul 2020 10:50

(Alliance News) - Indivior PLC on Wednesday noted that former chief executive Shaun Thaxter has entered into a plea agreement with the US Department of Justice.

He has pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count under the Responsible Corporate Officer Doctrine.

The plea agreement between Thaxter and the DoJ is "in his personal capacity and not on behalf of the group", Indivior stressed.

"As the group has previously noted, it continues to pursue its strategy to resolve outstanding investigations and litigations as expeditiously as possible, and as the matter is ongoing it has no further comment," the drug maker said.

On Monday, Indivior said Chief Financial & Operations Officer Mark Crossley would replace Thaxter as chief executive with immediate effect. Thaxter, in mutual agreement with the board, stepped down as chief executive and executive director.

Indivior is currently locked in a legal battle over Suboxone Film, after it was indicted by a grand jury in a case bought by the US Department of Justice. The DoJ is seeking USD3 billion and has accused Indivior of health care fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, and conspiracy in connection with its marketing and promotion of Suboxone Film, as well as paediatric safety claims and over-prescription.

Indivior shares were up 1.3% at 84.09 pence in London on Wednesday.
