Indivior And Virginia Tech To Collaborate On Recover Study Extension

10th Dec 2019 14:41

(Alliance News) - Indivior PLC on Tuesday said it will be collaborating with Virginia Tech to extend the Recover study of long-term opioid use disorder outcomes.

Virginia Tech is a state university in the US with its main campus in Blacksburg, Virginia. It will collaborate with pharmaceutical firm Indivior to extend the multi-site Recover study.

The study examines long-term recovery in those with moderate to severe opioid use disorder who received at least one dose of study treatment during Indivior#s phase 3 clinical trials of addition drug Sublocade.

A team of researchers at Virginia Tech will carry out the study which might give researchers "new insights into theoretical models of recovery" so they can more accurately characterise the recovery process, as well as identifying which factors might promote or hinder success.

According to Indivior: "Researchers hope the extended study may also provide further information to health care systems and policy-makers on how successful treatment and long-term recovery can reduce the economic burden of opioid use disorder."

Christian Heidbreder, Indivior Inc's chief scientific officer, said: "We believe that this Virginia Tech-Indivior study, which will actively engage patients in their real-world environment, will contribute to a better understanding of how patients are able to pursue the life changes they aspire to achieve, which is what true recovery is all about."

Shares in Indivior were down 0.5% at 41.55 pence in London on Tuesday morning.
