LONDON (Alliance News) - Independent Oil & Gas PLC on Tuesday said it signed a letter of intent to contract the Maersk Resilient jack-up rig to drill the Harvey appraisal well, in the southern North Sea.
The well is planned to follow on directly from the rig's current campaign, with the spud date expected to be in July. If successful, the well will take approximately two months.
"The Maersk Resilient is an excellent rig which we have secured with a summer slot which, with typically more benign weather, should also help to minimise operational risks," Chief Executive Officer Andrew Hockey said.
Furthermore, the company added it is close to finalising a contract with Halliburton Manufacturing & Services Ltd to provide offshore drilling services on the Harvey well.
Independent Oil & Gas shares were trading down 0.8% at 12.65 pence each.
